NIGERIAN pastor Tim Omotoso, who is in South Africa illegally, is keen to renew his work permit.
Omotoso, of the Jesus Dominion International Church, is facing charges of human trafficking and rape. He will make an urgent application in the Port Elizabeth High Court to apply for Nigerian and South African police clearance certificates.
Omotoso’s current work permit is valid until next Wednesday. He has been in South Africa since 2000.
In order to extend his work permit, he needs to lodge an application for extension before next Wednesday. His application must include a police clearance certificate.
He was denied bail recently after it emerged that he was in Mzansi illegally.
In an affidavit seen by Daily Sun, the pastor saidhe’s seeking orders from the ministers of police and correctional services to ensure his application for a police clearance certificate is processed.
“If I’m unable to extend my work visa, I would be forced to leave the country and apply for a new one from my home country which would be a lengthy process. It would disrupt my present employment.”
Omotoso will be back in court next Tuesday for a new bail application.
