Jozi Block Catches fire

A fire broke out at a block of flats in the Joburg inner city on Tuesday.
One person was taken to hospital while others were treated at the scene after inhaling smoke.
It happened at Sylvester Court in Abel Road, Berea.
It was the second fire at a block of flats in the city this month!
Firefighters worked hard to kill the blaze and to rescue panicking tenants who were stuck inside the building.
Joburg Emergency Services spokesman Robert Mulaudzi told the People’s Paper: “Luckily, there were no deaths and only one person had to be taken to hospital. Residents are urged to look after heating devices, which can cause fires in their homes.”
The Berea fire came just weeks after a massive fire gutted the Cape York building in the
inner city suburb of Yeoville.
Seven people were killed in the Cape York fire.
It was reported that one person jumped to his death while trying to escape the fire!
During the Berea fire, emergency officials had to rescue four people who were stranded on the building’s roof.
The cause of the fire has not been determined yet.
