Deadly kids'party

THE exams ended, schools closed – and the kids wanted a wild Pens Down party.
Hundreds of children made use of about 50 taxis to block a road and get drunk while they partied the night away.
But it ended in tragedy when a taxi slammed into the group, killing two girls instantly!
The shocking incident that also claimed another kid’s life and injured three more happened early on Sunday outside the Eyethu Night Club in Port Elizabeth.
Police spokesman Captain Andre Beetge said the night club didn’t allow clients under the age of 18 so pupils younger than 18 ended up drinking outside the club.
“While they were drinking a taxi collided with six of them, killing two girls aged between 14 and 17 instantly.
A 19-year-old man was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. Three other men were seriously injured and admitted to
Dora Nginza Hospital.
“The taxi sped away from the scene. A case of culpable homicide has been opened. We urge parents to come forward to identify the dead and injured pupils.”
Motherwell cluster commander, Major-General Dawie Rabie, expressed his shock at the accident.
“Schools and parents should be more proactively involved in the lives of their children,
especially as school holidays approach.
“I have instructed a full investigation into this accident to track down the driver,” he said.
The phones of both spokesmen from the department of
education were switched off when Daily Sun tried to reach them for comment yesterday.
