Nurse murdered and her son disappeared

Police are investigating the mysterious death of a Cape Flats nurse and the disappearance of her son.
The bloody body of Renate Elsie Booysen was discovered by her husband inside their home in Epsten Road, Lavender Hill, at 5.30pm last Thursday.
Alfred Booysen, 57, says he had just arrived from work when he found his wife’s body, “riddled with stab wounds”, lying in the passage of the maisonette.
The 52-year-old woman was a nursing sister at Douglas Murray Home for the Aged in Retreat.
Her killer has yet to be arrested.
Yesterday, the distraught husband said they are also looking for his 27-year-old son, who has not been seen since Renate was killed.
Alfred says Renate had been off for the day, but was due to start a new shift on Friday 16 June when tragedy struck.
The couple had been married for 23 years and have three children, aged 19, 22 and 27.
“I don’t know what happened to her,” says a heartbroken Alfred.
“I came home from work and she was off from work as she was supposed to start work again on Friday. She would work a 7am to 7pm shift.
“I came home at 5.30pm, and what can one say when you find the body of your wife?
“She was lying there in the passage,” he says.
Alfred says his wife’s murder remains a mystery. She was at home with their son, 27, who has since disappeared.
He says nothing was missing and the family was puzzled.
“She was a gentle person who was friendly and loved by everyone.
“My wife and son were home, but he has been missing ever since.
“We don’t know who the killer is.
“I am sad, I am broken, she was my wife, we were married since 1994, this is not an easy thing,” he laments.
A representative of the Douglas Murray Home said they would issue a statement in the week about the type of caregiver Renate was.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says cops haven’t made any arrests.
“We can confirm that a case of murder has been opened for investigation. According to information, a 52-year-old woman was found with stab wounds at Epsten Road in Lavender Hill,” Rwexana says.
“No one has been arrested at this stage.”
