'In a critical condition after she was shot several times in the face'

A 36-year-old woman is in a critical condition in hospital after she was shot several times by a man she knows in Paddock on Monday morning, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
She was shot in the face, neck, chest, neck and arm at about 09:00, Captain Nqobile Gwala said.
Gwala told News24 that it was not yet clear what relationship the woman had with the suspect. "She knows the suspect. The 32-year-old suspect was immediately arrested for attempted murder by Paddock police," Gwala said.
The motive for the attack was unknown at this stage but the suspect would appear in court soon, said Gwala.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said when paramedics arrived at her home, they found her lying on the floor of the lounge.
"The Netcare 911 advanced life support paramedic and her team worked fervently at the scene to stabilise the patient. After she was placed on a ventilator, and skilfully immobilised on a trauma board, they transported her to a specialised hospital for the care that she required," said Botha.
