Botswana's former president Sir Ketumile Masire has died.
The board of trustees of his foundation has confirmed the news.
The 91-year-old died at hospital surrounded by his family on Thursday night.
Masire was scheduled to attend a prestigious evening on Thursday night where he would be honoured by among others the Ohio State University in the US.
But he was rushed to hospital, with the foundation saying he had to undergo surgery.
