The Western Cape DA leader Patricia de Lille shocked the
party with her sudden resignation.She hand over the resignation letter to the national
DA leader Mmusi Maimane over the weekend.
The party reported that due to the resignation of Patricia
de Lille,Bonginkosi Madikizela the deputy of Patricia de Lille with the immediate
effect will act as the leader from now and up until February 25 when the party’s
provincial council consisting of councilors and other members of provincial legislation
were they will elect an interim leader in Worcester at its meeting.
"Everything is confirmed the interim leader would take
charge after been elected until an
elective provincial congress is held that might take place around November",said
Anton Bredell the DA Western cape
Chairman.
Although Anton Bredell
did not confirm about the dates
but it has been reported that the nomination might be open as early as today
and closed before next months end.
She gave in her resignation letter to the party national
leader,because reported that she want to
focus on her mayoral duties which could
not do justice while still been a provincial leader. Patricia de Lille will
stay on as the member of DA and again the City of Cape Town Mayor.
