Julius Malema Economic
Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader has repeated
that next month President Jacob Zuma will no longer be in the highest office if
the secret ballot vote is granted.
Malema was speaking at the party's fourth birthday celebrations in Durban yesterday.
The red beret leader says the party intends to grow its support base in KwaZulu-Natal and has even invited Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini to give the organisation advice.
Malema is clear that Zuma will not see the end of his presidential term.
But he says this does not mean their goal is to remove the African National Congress from power.
“ANC was elected by the people, we are saying to them remove Zuma, you can elect anyone, you are the government of today, we are going to remove you in 2019. We can’t remove you through a backdoor.”
Malema has called on South Africans to join a countrywide shutdown on 8 August if the secret ballot is not granted by Parliament.
