One person left dead and several others injured after a taxi they were travelling in rolled over an embankment in Melrose on Thursday.
It's not yet clear what caused the crash on the M1 North, near the Corlette Drive off-ramp.
Traffic was heavily backed up and motorists were urged to use alternative routes.
Netcare911's Chris Botha said: "A taxi appears to have gone right over the barriers and overturned several times. Tragically, one man died on scene due to very severe injuries. Multiple other people sustained injuries from critical to minor."
