LINDELWA Nopapaza is an angry gogo.
The 69-year-old from Gunguluza in Uitenhage told Daily Sun she was assaulted by seven cops who raided her home on Thursday night.
She claimed the cops said they were looking for drugs but found nothing as she wasn’t a dealer.
“I was alone at home when I suddenly saw lights flickering outside,” said Lindelwa.
“The cops kicked down my door and said they were looking for drugs.
“It was 9pm and I was listening to the radio. One of the cops asked me about the drugs.”
The gogo said the police searched her handbag and demanded to see her ID.
“They went into my bedroom and tossed my washing basket on the floor. They threw my clothes around while searching for drugs. A policewoman didn’t approve of what her colleagues were doing.
“When I asked the other cops to be careful when lifting my bed, I was punched in the face.
“My nose was bleeding and when I asked why they were beating me, one of the cops kicked me and called me ugly.”
Gogo Lindelwa said she was left in pain and with a broken heart.
Her daughter, Fezeka (44), said she was at work when the alleged incident happened.
“This was abuse. We will not rest until action is taken against the cops.”
Police spokesman Sergeant Majola Nkohli said a case of assault was opened and handed over to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate for investigation.
