#Five men stopped in their tracks

Five men were arrested yesterday morning for possession of unlicenced firearms and ammunition by a specialised law enforcement unit. The suspects were spotted by cops in Zuurbekom, west of Joburg, in a VW minibus. They were arrested for conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
According to reports, the suspects were on their way to rob the International Pentecostal Christian Church of Christ. The church had previously been robbed of huge amounts of money. Security guards at the church allegedly helped thugs get away with R300 000 and R150 000 on different occasions.
One of the guards was among the suspects arrested yesterday.
Community safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane applauded the police’s commitment to rooting out criminals and working towards creating a safer province.
“I applaud the officers for arresting those criminals and stopping them in their tracks. This shows our unwavering zeal to root out crime in pursuit of restoring the integrity of our law enforcement agencies,” she said.
