#Two deadly crashes!

Five people, including both drivers, died when their cars collided on the R102 near Umhlanga, north of Durban on Saturday.
Netcare 911 spokesman Nick Dollman said paramedics rushed to the scene of a very serious accident near the Phoenix off-ramp.
“Traffic police and rescue teams responded to the incident.
“Reports indicate that an Opel Astra and a Suzuki hit each other at high speed.
“Both cars were wrecked,” said Dollman.
“Tragically, three women and two men died at the scene. Their ages ranged between 25 and 50.”
He said two passengers were alive and trapped in one of the cars. Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to cut them free.
“A 15-year-old girl was in a critical condition and was placed on a ventilator, while a 17-year-old boy had also sustained severe injuries.
“Paramedics took them to hospital for urgent further medical care,” said Dollman.
KZN police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane said cops from Verulam will investigate the cause of the accident.
  • Netcare 911 paramedics also rushed to the scene of an accident on the N2 northbound near Chesterville, west of Durban.
A truck had collided with two cars.
“The truck came to a standstill partially on the centre divider and partially in the road, blocking two lanes.
“Fortunately, the occupants of one of the cars escaped without injury, but the driver of the other car sustained severe injuries and died at the scene,” Dollman said.
“We are appealing to motorists to always drive carefully and obey the rules of the road,” said Zwane.
