Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba requested to open probe into CPS profits from social grants contract

Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba has been requested to open an investigation at the office of the chief procurement officer into the R1.1 billion profit that Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) made from social grants contract.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) says such extraordinary profiteering from public money is an insult to poor South Africans.
It says it expects that the chief procurement officer to reveal whether CPS misled the government.
DA Shadow Minister of Social Development Bridget Masango says: “As the DA, we believe that not only is that an extraordinary profiteering from public money and insult to poor South Africans, it also may contradict the Constitutional Court order from 2014 which bans CPS from making any further profits from the invalid contract.”
