The Absa Premieship match Pirates against Chiefs at FNB
Stadium on Saturday settled as a draw, although Willard Katsande had a chance
to settle the lead on the 84th-minute after given a penalty but it was unfortunate
that Pirates goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo saved it.
“The match was fantastic and the spirit of all two teams
were high. We are fortunate as clubs and
as the League in South African to have such fantastic game like this‚” Said Jonevret.
“honestly it was great because there are many countries who
would be jealous of not having this game and also the atmosphere was fantastic,”
he added
Orlando Pirates managed
another draw with the same scoreline against Polokwane City at Orlando Stadium
in their previous game in new Bucs coach Jonevret’s second match in charge.
Jonevret said “Kaizer Chiefs kept the ball in the first six
minutes and were a bit stronger than us, too controlling over the ball, later
on our possession was good and we kept
the ball a bit‚ and started playing. I thought we played very good football in
the first half”.
“I was a bit disappointed on the 18th minute when
Chiefs scored because I think it was the
first time they had shot in the game.
“In the second half it looked to me like Chiefs were
stronger. But overall I thought it was a good game and a tough game‚ and I thought
the crowd also liked it, It was an open game with a lot of chances.
“it was going to be hard if we had lost the game 2-1‚ but having a 1-1 draw‚
that’s OK for me is better than losing. Pirates equalised through Dove Wome in
the 33rd minute.
“Even if I tried to put on offensive players in Riyaad
Norodien and Tendai Ndoro to try to win. Yes‚ so a draw was maybe OK – but we
want to win.”
Bucs‚ who remain struggling in 10th place have another tough
assignment against third-placed SuperSport United at Orlando Stadium in their
next fixture on Tuesday night.
